Canton, Robert Lowery Justice, Jr., age 90, passed away on Monday, February 21, 2011 at Silver Bluff Nursing Home. A native of Haywood County, he was the son of the late Robert Lowery and Nan Pearl Liner Justice. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a sister, Betty Rush and two brothers, Henry and Arthur Justice. Robert retired as an Iron Worker from Champion International with 39 years of service. Robert was an accomplished banjo, steel guitarist and fiddle player. Robert loved gardening and was active in First Baptist Church of Canton's Baracca class. He was a retired United States Army Veteran and served in World War II. He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Lillian Deaver Justice; two sons, R.L. "Bobby" Justice, III and his wife, Pam; and Kevin Justice and his wife, Debbie, of Canton; one daughter, Debbie Justice Lewis; four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 24, 2011 in the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home of Canton with the Reverend Dr. Jack Sammons officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. until 1:45 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Crawford/Ray Memorial Gardens. The family would like to give a special recognition to the Haywood County Hospice, Silver Bluff Nursing Home, Gentiva Healthcare and his Physical Therapist, Eric Wayman for their compassionate care of Robert. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Canton First Baptist Church Honduras Mission Trip, 74 Academy Street, Canton, NC 28716 or to one's favorite charity.
