Canton—Robert L. King, age 65, of Redland Circle, died on Sunday, February 17, 2008 at Haywood Regional Medical Center. A native of Haywood County, he was the son of the late Robert King and Rubenia Hatchett Overman. He was a self-employed logger. He enjoyed woodworking and crafting dulcimers. Robert enjoyed gardening and flowers and also enjoyed going camping and fishing. He was a member of Welcome Hill Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife of 16 years, Martha Hyatt King; three sons, Robert Allen King of Waynesville, Rodney Luther King and his wife, Marie, of Leicester, and Dustin Robert King of Canton; two daughters, Shannon Denise Capps and her husband, Jimmy, of Hendersonville and Emily Faye King of Canton; two sisters, Wilma Hall and her husband, Ed, and Barbara Cabe and her husband, Danny, all of Canton; three step sisters, Faye Worley, of Asheville, Pauline Worley of Hendersonville and Coleen Franklin of Waynesville; two stepbrothers, R.L. Overman of Canton and Jimmy Overman of Tennessee; seven grandchildren; and three great grandchildren. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 20, 2008 in the Waynesville chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Michael Boyd and Reverend Tim Ellege officiating. Burial will follow at Green Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday prior to services.
