Robert Smith

Clyde, Robert Lee Smith, age 80, of the Crabtree Community, passed away unexpectedly Friday, September 12, 2008. He was a native and lifelong resident of Haywood County and was the son of the late Hubert and Myrtle Mehaffey Smith. He was preceded in death by his wife, Gladys Scott Smith who died in 1988. He was also preceded in death by a granddaughter, Brandy Smith and his brother and sister-in-law, Carroll and Marie Smith. He retired from Dayco, was a member of Crabtree Baptist Church and was a U.S. Army veteran. Robert enjoyed having breakfast with his "breakfast buddies" at Hardees, loved being outdoors and always had a project going. He is survived by a daughter, Karen Kreitzburg of Waynesville, a son Gary Smith and his wife, Sharon of Clyde, special friend, Freda Hill of Clyde; two sisters, Doris Little of Leicester, NC and Barbara Henry of Waynesville; two brothers, Clyde Smith and his wife, Juanita of Lowell, NC and Ted Smith and his wife, Mary of Disputanta, VA and three grandchildren, Jess Robert Smith, John C. Kreitzburg and Kelly Kreitzburg. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, September 15, 2008 at Crabtree Baptist Church with Reverend Max Smith and Reverend Danny Little officiating. Burial will follow at Crabtree Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Sunday evening at Wells Funeral Home of Waynesville and at other times at Robert's home. Serving as pallbearers will be Mike, David and Jody Smith, Tim Kelley, Way Kinsland and Charles Free.
