Robert Mcmahan

Canton-Robert L. Walter McMahan-66 of 13 Mingus Hill Road died Friday, January 10, 2003 at Haywood Regional Medical Center.

He was a native of Haywood County and the son of the late John Simms and Myra Packet McMahan. He was self-employed and served as the head contractor during the remodeling of the Balsam Inn and the Hooper House in Sylva.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Cecil Keener McMahan who died in 1972; one son, Johnny R. McMahan who died in 2001; two sisters and two brothers.

He is survived by his wife, Sandra McMahan; a daughter, Kathy McMahan Wilson of Canton; one step-daughter, Dana Jones of Spartanburg, SC; one step-son, Garren Jones of Spartanburg, SC; one brother, Charlie McMahan of Maggie Valley; six grandchildren and two great-granddaughters.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Monday, January 13, 2003 at the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Homes. Burial will be in Pisgah View Memorial Park in Candler. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. Sunday, January 12, 2003 at the funeral home.
