Robert Mull

August 10, 1922 — May 4, 2005

Waynesville-Robert L. "Bob" Mull, age 82, of 2135 South Main Street, entered eternal rest on Wednesday, May 4, 2005 at Haywood Regional Medical Center. A native and life-long resident of Haywood County, he was the son of the late Jerry Ratcliffe Mull and Margaret Saunders Mull. He was also preceded in death by three sisters, Melba Reagan, Edith Moore and Irene Jordan and four brothers, Tom, Lloyd, Ned and Harry Mull. He was a graduate of Waynesville Township High School and was a proud veteran of the US Marine Corps, 3rd division serving during World War II on Guam and Iwo Jima. He was also a member of VFW Post 5202 and American Legion Post 47. He was owner and operator of Bob's Sports Store and also worked 17 years at Waynesville Country Club. He was a member of Waynesville Masonic Lodge No. 259 AF&AM and the Haywood County Shrine Club. He was a founding member of the Haywood County Shriner's Golf Tournament. He was a member and past-president of the Hazelwood Booster's Club, a member of the Hazelwood Lion's Club, and was also a member of Faith United Methodist Church. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Mary Konyn Mull; a daughter, Catherine Margaret Hambrick, of Balsam; two sons, Kenneth Robert Mull and his wife Debbie, of Waynesville and Richard Gordon Mull of Clyde; one sister, Lucille Revis, of Philadelphia, PA; five granddaughters; Chrystie, Rhonda, Denise, Kari and Tara; and five great-grandsons; Dustin, Lane, Mige, Cody and Ezra. Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, May 7, 2005 in the Waynesville Chapel of Wells Funeral Homes and Cremation Services with Reverend Terry Rowland, Reverend Hal Finney and Reverend Allen Blanton officiating. Burial will follow at Garrett-Hillcrest Memorial Park with Masonic graveside rites and military graveside rites. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 9:00 p.m. on Friday, May 6th at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Mountaineer Little League, C/O Roger Hampton, 123 Duckett Road, Waynesville, NC 28786 or Faith United Methodist Church, 43 Hendrix Street, Waynesville, NC 28786.
