Robert Pedgrift

Lake Junaluska, Robert "Bob" Pedgrift, age 88, died on Sunday, June 15, 2008 at Autumn Care. A native of Chicago, IL, he had resided in St. Petersburg, FL for 36 years and moved to Haywood County in 1988. He was the son of the late John and Marie Herm Pedgrift. He was a US Air Force veteran of World War II. Bob graduated from Kent School of Law in Chicago and was vice president and trust officer for the First National Bank in St. Petersburg for 17 years and practiced law with Peterson and Pedgrift for 17 years. He was vice president of Suncoast Manor and the chairman of the board for the Salvation Army in St. Petersburg and a member of Grace Church in the Mountains. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Maryln Pedgrift; one son, John C. Patterson and his wife, Joy, of Jacksonville, FL; and one daughter, Carol Colombo and her husband, Valentine, of Margate, FL. Memorial services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 24, 2008 at Grace Church in the Mountains with Father Edward O. deBary officiating. Memorials may be made to the Florida Council of the Blind, 4215 17th Avenue, Bradenton, FL 34205 or Grace Church in the Mountains, 394 North Haywood Street, Waynesville, NC 28786.
