Balsam, Robert Mitchell (Bobby) Rollins, age 56, passed away on Monday, July 5, 2011 at his residence. A native of Poquoson, Virginia, he was the son of the late Gene Rollins and was also preceded in death by a brother, Billy Rollins. He was employed at Western Carolina Plumbing for the past eleven years. Bobby had a zest for life and enjoyed the outdoors where he spent time doing what he loved, hunting and fishing. He is survived by his mother, Marion Counts and her husband, Butch; his high school sweetheart and wife, Jan Rollins; two stepchildren, Joshua Vest and Amy Newton; a brother, Brent Rollins and his wife, Karen, two granddaughters, Hannah Callis Newton and Sydney Layne Newton, all of Virginia; one sister, Kelly Blakeley, of Arlington, Texas; and lifelong best friend, Marvin Freeman. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 Noon on Thursday, July 7, 2011 in the Waynesville Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Gerald Zasimowich officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home. The family wants to give a special thanks to MedWest-Haywood Regional Medical Center Hospice, 21st Century Oncology, and the nurses on the 5th floor of MedWest-Haywood for their loving care. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to MedWest-Haywood Regional Medical Center Hospice, 560 Leroy George Drive, Clyde, NC 28721.
