Robert Sanford

Waynesville, Robert Gordon Sanford, age 73, of Waynesville, formerly of Johnson City, TN, passed away on Sunday, April 4, 2010 at the Charles George VA Medical Center in Asheville. A native of Haywood County, he resided most of his life in eastern Tennessee. He was the son of the late Gordon B. and Pearl McCracken Sanford and was preceded in death by two brothers, Jack and Frank Sanford and a sister, Anna Kate Sanford. Robert was a veteran of the US Marine Corps and retired from the Merchant Marines with 28 years of service. He was of the Baptist Faith. He is survived by two sisters, Beatrice Winchester and Blanche Medford both of Waynesville and many nieces and nephews. A memorial graveside service will be held at 4:00 p.m. Monday, April 19th, 2010 at Antioch Baptist Church cemetery. Military honors will be conducted. Memorials may be made to a charity of one's choice.
