Robert Simmons

Robert Edward "Eddy" Simmons, 70, of Candler, passed away on Saturday, January 6, 2018 at the John Keever Solace Center in Asheville. A native of Asheville, he was the son of James E. Simmons and the late Alma Hall Simmons. He graduated from Enka High School in 1965 and was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 238 for 50 years. He was also a member of Hominy Masonic Lodge #491 and Hominy Baptist Church.
Eddy is survived by his father, James E. Simmons of Candler; his wife of 44 years, Joyce Cope Simmons; son, Jason (Melinda) Simmons of Candler; brother, Jerry Simmons of Candler; niece, Breanne Simmons of Athens, GA; Uncle, Grady (Debbie) Simmons of Erwin, TN; brother-in-law, Wayne (Carol) Cope of Knoxville, TN; and the two loves of his life, his grandchildren, Blue and Highland Simmons.
A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00am on Wednesday, January 10th in the Chapel of Faith, Moore Funeral Home at Forest Lawn with the Revs. Mary Caldwell and Joe Yelton officiating. Entombment will follow the service at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
The family would like to thank the doctors at Asheville Cardiology Associates, Heart Failure Team, and every person on the 5th Floor Heart Tower and ICU that cared for Eddy.
In lieu of flowers, Eddy requested any donations be made to Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation for Childhood Cancer, 111 Presidential Blvd., Suite 203, Bala Cynwyd, PA 19004 USA in honor of his granddaughter, Highland Simmons.
