Robert Sluder

Candler-Robert Fred Sluder, age 87, formerly of Indian Trail Road, passed away on Friday, January 3, 2014 at Emerald Ridge Rehabilitation & Care Center in Asheville. A native of Buncombe County, he was the son of the late Ezra and Annie Sluder. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a son, Fredrick Freeman; a granddaughter, Christy Freeman; two sisters and three brothers. He was a United States Navy Veteran serving in WWII. Robert was an employee of Mountain Music and a member of Ridgeway Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Inis Sluder; a daughter, Mary Presnell (Reverend Jack Presnell); a son Larry Freeman (Aundry); a sister, Lillian Dicus; a special niece, Kay Taylor; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 5, 2014 in the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend Jack Presnell and Reverend Jack W. Collins officiating. Burial will follow at Ashlawn Gardens of Memory. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 1:45 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. The family would like to give a special thanks to the staff at Emerald Ridge Rehabilitation Center for the wonderful care given to Bob and Inis.
