Robert Thorne

Canton - Robert C. Thorne, age, 72, passed away on Saturday, October 28, 2017 at Haywood Regional Medical Center.

A native of Colorado, he was raised by grandparents, Alonzo and Inez Caywood. Robert was a member of the United States Navy for 25 years and retired as a Senior Chief Petty Officer in 1987. He then worked for military contractors until 2009. Robert was a member of Long's Chapel United Methodist Church.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Carolyn Thompson Thorne; a daughter, Lori McDonald and husband, J.R., of Canton; two sons, Billy Thorne of Canton and Rob Thorne and wife, Tamara, of Niceville, FL; two brothers, Charles Turk and Marvin Hunderfund; ten grandchildren; and eighteen great-grandchildren.

A celebration of life service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, November 24, 2017 at the Long's Chapel United Methodist Church with Reverend Christopher Westmoreland and Reverend Tim McConnell officiating.
