Robert Wilson

Matthews, NC - Robert Arthur Wilson, age 70, formerly of Canton, died Friday, July 20, 2007 from complications related to Alzheimer's. He is survived by his wife, Geraldine Norris Wilson; a son, Robert Travis Wilson of Matthews, and a daughter and son-in-law, Tonya and Nalin Patel of Charlotte;a sister, Carole Wilson Modlin of Lawrenceburg, TN; grandsons, Jeramy, Jonah, and Arthur Wilson; and granddaughter, Lana Patel. He is preceded in death by his parents, Samuel Medford and Mary Holder Wilson. He graduated from Canton High School where he was an all-star athlete. He retired from the Charlotte Police Department as a patrolman. Robert was a master craftsman in metal, wood, and leather works, played several musical instruments, and wrote many of his own songs. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, August 11, 2007 in the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend James Parham and Reverend Carole Wilson Modlin officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 2:00 p.m. prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Disease Association, 3800 Shamrock Drive, Charlotte, NC 28215.
