Waynesville resident and native Washingtonian, Robert Charles Hamilton, 73, passed away on Thursday, October 15, 2020 at his home.
Robert was the son of the late John W. and Louise McCloskey Hamilton. He proudly served his country in the United States Army, stationed predominately in Korea and Vietnam. Bob worked as a Transportation Manager with the Virginia Department of Transportation, retiring in 2009 with 25 years of service.
Robert is survived by his wife of 17 years, Freida Foster Hamilton; his daughters, Catherine Hamilton, and her husband, Christopher Chandler, of Gaithersburg, Maryland and Angela Serrano and her husband, Juan Carlos, of Silver Spring, Maryland; stepdaughters Beth Harris and her husband, Wes, of Conway, South Carolina and Rebecca Cox and her husband, Steve, of Woodruff, North Carolina; stepson, Andrew Ridge and his wife, Jamie, of Conway, South Carolina; and two grandchildren; and six step-grandchildren.
Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 21, 2020 in the Waynesville chapel of Wells Funeral Home. Military rites will be provided by the Army National Guard at the funeral home. Burial will be held at the Western Carolina State Veteran’s Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. prior at the funeral home.

The service will be made available via Livestream beginning at 10:55 a.m. on Wednesday, 10/21/2020 at our website, www.wellsfuneralhome.com.
The care of Mr. Hamilton has been entrusted to Wells Funeral Homes.
