Robin Barker

Hot Springs, Robin Elizabeth Speck Barker, age 53, of 1180 Max Patch Road, passed way on Saturday, June 28, 2008. A native of Essex County, Massachusetts, she grew up in Rockport, Massachusetts and resided in St. Petersburg, Florida before moving to Haywood County in 1995. She was the daughter of Francis Walen and Barbara Ann Phillips Speck. She was an avid swimmer and especially loved swimming with her boys. Robin also enjoyed painting and attended weekly art classes and loved to garden and sew. She especially loved her children and attended Fines Creek Memorial Baptist Church. She is survived by her parents, "Pops" Francis Walen Speck of Sioux City, IA and "Mops" Barbara Ann Phillips Speck of Middletown, CA; her husband, Kevin Barker; two sons, David Kevin Barker, Jr. and Kristopher Robin Barker, both of Clyde; one sister, Becky S. DeCaro and her husband, Greg, of Sioux City, IA; one brother, David Star Speck and his wife, Reiko Kaneyasu-Speck of San Pedro, CA; aunts and uncles, Amalia and Skip Border, of Montana, Gertrude Shea of Rockport, MA, Ralph and Betty Lou Speck, of Sioux City, IA, and Robert and Betty Speck of Brent Hills, NY; godfather, Paul O'Brien of Beverly, MA; and special friends, Barbara Bullock of Manchester, MA, Jane and Lee Moore of Marshall, and Linda and Jack Pascucci of Rockport, MA. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 6, 2008 at Fines Creek Memorial Baptist Church with Reverend Jimmy Moore officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:45 p.m. prior to services at the church.
