"U.S. Marine Veteran" Almond – Rodney "Rod" Wayne Whitted, age 62, passed away on Friday, December 26, 2014 at his residence. A native of Richland County, Ohio, he was a son of the late Bobby Wayne and Martha Lee Baker Whitted. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Cathy Blanchard; and a brother, Teddy Whitted. Rodney was a member of Serenity Baptist Church. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved to spend time on his house boat. Rodney was a United States Marine veteran having served with 1st. Marine Division in the Vietnam War. He is survived by his wife of six years, Paula Price Whitted; one son, Daniel Wayne Whitted of Weaverville; a step-son, William Heath Russell and his wife, Sarah, of Waynesville; one brother, Mark Anthony Whitted of Weaverville; four grandchildren; and two step-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 28, 2014 in the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend Max Cochran officiating. The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 4:00 prior to the service.
