Roger Abshire

Roger Dale Abshire, 61, formerly of Asheville, passed away on Thursday, August 22, 2013. He was the son of the late Columbus and Vergie Blevins Abshire. Roger served in the US Army and worked for many years with the State Department and Blackwater. He also served with the Madison County Sheriff and retired as Police Chief from Hot Springs.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his son, Henry Coleman and sisters, Judy Cutshaw and Tammy Jo Abshire.
He is survived by his daughter, Donna Abshire; son, James Abshire; siblings, Linda Hammer, Henry Abshire, Nancy McMahan, Bruce Abshire and John Abshire; 5 grandchildren; loving ex-wife, Kay Abshire; dear friend, Chuck Medford and special family, Debbie, Abby and Bentley Kerley.
A Funeral Service will be held at 3:00PM on Monday, August 26th in the Chapel of Faith at Moore Funeral Home at Forest Lawn. The family will receive friends from 1-3PM prior to the service. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Candler with Military Honors.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donation may be made to Moore Funeral Home to assist with funeral expenses.
