Clyde-Roger Alexander Hardin, age 61, of 145 Forsythia Lane, died Monday, September 08, 2003 at his residence.
A native of Haywood County, he was the son of Grace Earls Hardin Severt of Clyde and the late Claude Hardin. He was also preceded in death by a son, Roger ''Alex'' Hardin, Jr. who died in 2002; and two brothers, Larry and Tony Hardin. He was employed by Champion International Paper Company for 35 years and worked in the Shipping Department. He was a member of Rehoboth Baptist Church and enjoyed golf and fishing. He was also a former member of the Road Runners of Haywood County.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife of 14 years, Sherri Smart Hardin; a daughter, Jill Ward, of Paducah, Kentucky; a son, Jon Hardin, of Canton; a brother, Earl Hardin, of Canton; and six grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 11, 2003 in the Waynesville chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Greg Murphy officiating. Burial will follow at Green Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 10, 2003. Pallbearers will be Arnold Bryson, Robert Palen, Mike Franklin, Cliff Henderson, Jr., Heath Kent, and Ross Hooper. Honorary pallbearer will be Lonnie Sutton.
