Roger Moore

Waynesville, Gunnery Sgt. Roger Dale Moore, Ret., 65, passed away on Thursday, November 3, 2016 at his residence after an extended illness. A native of Haywood County, he was the son of the late Annie May Green and Willard Moore and was also preceded in death by a brother, Michael Moore and one sister, Joanne Bryson. Roger loved his country and was an 18-year US Marine Corp veteran, having served during the Vietnam Era. He was employed as a social worker in Haywood and Buncombe County and enjoyed restoring and customizing muscle cars. Roger is survived by his wife of 17 years, Deborah Moore; a son, Will Rose and fiancée, Tiffany, of Knoxville; five daughters, Priscilia Ailey (Jason) of Sevierville, Tennessee, Krystal Naillon (Levi) of Waynesville, Paula Ackerman (Tom) of Farwell, Michigan, Rachel Jones of Mount Pleasant, Michigan and Rebecca Cook (Derek) of Midland, Michigan; a sister, Bobbie Wells, of Murphy; one brother, Tom Green (Joyce) of Vineland, New Jersey; and 19 grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 6 in the Waynesville Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Steve Mills officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:00 until 2:00 p.m. prior to services at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Four Seasons Hospice, 571 South Allen Road, Flat Rock, NC 28731 or charity of one's choice.
