Asheville – Roger Edward Morgan, 83, passed away on Monday, July 24, 2017 at Memorial Campus of Mission Hospitals.
A native of Haywood County, he was a son of the late Levi Smathers Morgan and Willie Rogers Morgan. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Joanne Morgan. Roger was a United States Navy veteran having served during the Korean Conflict. He spent 32 years as an air traffic controller with the United States government and 11 years as an airport director at Winston Salem. Roger was a member of Clyde First Baptist Church and a volunteer at Mission Hospital.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Lois Smith Morgan; one brother, Richard Morgan of Clemmons; and three nephews, Dr. Alan Morgan of Asheville, Honorable Eric Morgan of Kernersville, and Van Morgan of Phoenixville, Pennsylvania.
A visitation will be held from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 26, 2017 at Wells Funeral Home in Canton. A private graveside service will be held later.
