Roger Guy Singleton, age 77, of the Dix Creek Community, died Saturday, November 28, 2009 at his residence. A native of Haywood County, he was a son of the late James Guy and Lois Rogers Singleton. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Randall Lynn Singleton; and two brothers, Bruce and Gary Singleton. He retired from Champion International with 32 years of service. Roger was a highly decorated United States Army veteran having served in the Korean Conflict where he earned a bronze star for valor in the Kum Wa Valley. Roger was an ordained deacon and an active member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Bobbie Thompson Singleton; two sons, Roger Daryl Singleton of Killen, AL, and Michael Dale Singleton; one daughter, Joretta Jean Singleton both of Canton; a sister, Cleta Franklin; four brothers, Donald, Dale, Steve, and Dean Singleton; six grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 1, 2009 at Mt. Zion Baptist Church with Reverend Dr. Perry Brindley and Reverend Howard Pless officiating. Burial will follow at Bethel Community Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the church. At other times, the family will be at the residence. Grandsons and nephews will serve as pallbearers. Wells Funeral Home of Canton is in charge of the arrangements. Memorials may be made to Mt.
