Waynesville, Ronald Ray "Ronnie" Brown, passed away on Sunday, May 10, 2015 at his residence from injuries he received in a lawn mower accident. Born in Waynesville on July 31, 1950, he was the son of Roxie Smith Brown and the late Marvin Reeves Brown. In addition to his father, he was also preceded in death by paternal grandparents, Dave and Molly Brown and maternal grandparents, Roe and Dollie Smith, a special aunt, Fannie "Sally" Trantham, and father-in-law and mother-in-law, Wiley and Paula Price. At the time of his death, he was employed by Ken Wilson Ford as a car salesman. He previously worked as a deputy with the Haywood County Sheriff Department and as a car salesman at Taylor Motor Company and Greystone Automotive. Ronnie loved cars, tractors, making jewelry, pencil drawings, exploring nature, and working in his yard. He especially loved spending time with his family and friends and riding motorcycles with his brother, Bruce, and friends. He was a member of Hemphill Baptist Church. Ronnie was a loving, giving, helping person. He received so much satisfaction helping others. Those left to cherish his memory in addition to his mother, are his loving wife of 31 years, Jessica Price Brown; brother, Bruce Edward Brown; sister, Janet Marlene Brown Messer and her husband, Bobby; brother, Robert Brown and his wife, Yvonne; sister-in-law, Johnna McNamara and her husband, Steve; one very special nephew, Andrew Cody Messer and his girlfriend, Julie Minnick; two very special nieces, Kelly and Jennifer McNamara; a niece, Heather Terwillegar and her husband, Matt; and a nephew, Ryan Brown. A celebration of Ronnie's life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 14, 2015 in the Waynesville Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Mark Caldwell, Reverend Bobby Rogers and Reverend Chris Willett officiating. Burial will follow at Garrett-Hillcrest Memorial Park. Serving as pallbearers will be Steve McNamara, Tom Alexander, Greg Christopher, Clinton Hawkins, Tim Sluder, Brandon Singleton, Alex Leatherwood, Jeff Pruitt, John Siverling, LaVerne Mason and Albert Russell. Honorary pallbearers will be Ronnie's co-workers at Ken Wilson Ford and also his special friends. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 9:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Haywood Pathways Center, 179 Hemlock Street, Waynesville, NC 28786.
