Canton- Ronald D. "Ronnie" Dame, age 76, passed away on Monday, November 17, 2014 at the VA Medical Center in Asheville. He was a native of Plattsburgh, New York and the son of the late Walter and Grace Tyrrell Dame. Ronnie served as a Paratrooper in the United States Army as a member of the 82nd Airborne Division. He was also a graduate of Albany Business College and later was employed with Wyeth-Ayerst Pharmaceuticals before retiring with 26 years of service. Ronnie also served as a member of the Board of Directors of the North Country Association for the Visually Impaired of Lake Placid, NY. He was well known as a great joke and story teller as well as being an avid outdoorsman. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Ellen Carle Dame, of Canton; a daughter, Rebecca Pallack and her husband, Jason, of Fort Stewart, GA; a son, Brian MJ Dame of Baltimore, MD; a sister, Shirley Quincey and her husband, Gordon, of Plattsburgh, NY; a granddaughter, Eilonwy Grace Pallack; sister-in-law, Joan Carman and her husband, David, of Schenevis, New York; and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, November 19 at Wells Funeral Home of Canton. A funeral mass will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 20, 2014 at the St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, officiating will be Father Dean Cesa. Military honors will be conducted by the United States Army. A reception will follow at the Church.
