Ronald Mason

Ronald Bruce Mason – age 74, died Monday, April 23, 2012, at Duke University Hospice Center. A native of South Bend, Indiana, he was a son of the late Roy Bruce and Laura Ferne Bruce Mason. He had resided in Haywood County since 1984 and was a United States Army veteran. Ron was a certified public accountant and the founder of Betron, Inc. He retired in 2011 and attended Plains United Methodist Church. Ronald was very dedicated to his family and career as a CPA and business owner. He was a private pilot for over 40 years and enjoyed flying, playing golf, bowling, traveling, theatre, and appeared in several HART productions. He was also a former member of the Waynesville Rotary Club. Ron was loved by many and has touched so many hearts. He will be dearly missed by all his family and friends. He is survived by his companion of 18 years, Betty Yates Henderson; two sons, David Mason and his wife, Susan, of Mentor, Ohio, and Scott Mason and his wife, Kathleen, of Raleigh; one daughter, Kathleen Mason and her fiancé, Brad Keith, of Mills River; two brothers, Dr. William Mason and his wife, Patty, of Salisbury, and Craig Mason and his wife, Cheryl, of Ellicott City, Maryland; eight grandchildren, Joshua, Kristen, and Robin Mason, Graham and Ian Haley, Creston and Christopher Heltzel, and Matthew Barnauskas; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 28, 2012 in the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend Ryan C. Snider officiating. Burial will follow at Bon-A-Venture Cemetery on Newfound Road. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Friday evening.
