Maggie Valley, Ronald James "Boss" Sigado, age 72, of 646 Henry Dingus Way, died on Friday, March 27, 2009 at his residence. A native of Portage, Pennsylvania and had resided in Haywood County for the past ten years. He was the son of the late Daniel and Elizabeth Chervenak Sigado. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Rosemary Sigado, who died in 1986, and four sisters and five brothers. He was an Air Force veteran serving from 1957-61. He was a retired from Simmons Health Care and Frito-Lay. Ron was a member of the American Legion, Amvets and the Moose Lodge. He enjoyed family, crossword puzzles, and fly-fishing and was a UNC Tar Heel and Pittsburgh Steelers fan. Ron was of the Catholic faith. He is survived by his wife of 17 years, Letha Brooks Sigado; two sons, Thomas Sigado and his wife, Marne, of Unionville, NC, Eddie Portis and his wife, Amy, of Concord, NC; two daughters, Tamaria Stephens and her husband, Rodney, of Indian Trails, NC and Debra Diegmann and her husband, Scott, of Charlotte; two sisters, Patricia Earnest, of Mooresville and Ruth Roach of Davenport, FL; one brother, John Sigado, of Portage, PA; and six grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, March 30, 2009 in the Waynesville chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Caroll Lindsey officiating. The family will receive friends Sunday from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Wells Funeral Home of Waynesville. The graveside committal service with military graveside rites will be held on Tuesday, March 31 at 2:00 p.m. at Forest Lawn East Cemetery in Matthews, NC. Memorials may be made to the American Red Cross, 1688 Brown Avenue, Waynesville, NC 28786 or the Haywood Regional Medical Center Hospice, 560 Leroy George Drive, Clyde, NC 28721.
