Ronald "Ronnie" Boydston

Canton – Ronald “Ronnie” Cecil Boydston, 73, passed away on Saturday, November 20, 2021 at Charles George VA Medical Center.

Ronnie was a native of Buncombe County but had resided in Haywood County for most of his life and was a son of the late Lloyd Cecil Boydston and Hilda Reed Boydston Watts.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Jan Webb and his stepfather, Herb Watts.  Ronnie was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church and a United States Navy veteran having served during the Vietnam Era.  He retired from Champion International and was a master craftsman.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Nancy Freck Boydston; one daughter, Paige Sayles (Allen) of Canton; one son, Matthew Boydston (Charlie) of Canton; two grandchildren, Hattie and Hank Chambers; one sister, Debbie Rogers (Kevin); and four stepsisters, Maryann Thompson (Andy), Lynn Woolard (Hilliard), Marci Shelton, and Beth Connor.

A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 4, 2021 at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, 261 Dix Creek Road, Canton, NC with the Reverend Eddie Deitz and Reverend Dr. Jack Holland officiating.  The family will receive friends before and after the service at the church.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to one’s favorite charity.
