Rosa Lear Stamey Ison Lankford peacefully slipped away to be with Jesus, January 17, 2006 at the Brian Center of Waynesville following a period of declining health. She was born in Ellijay, GA on April 12, 1914 to the late Lee Stamey and Armer Duckworth Stamey. She had lived several years in Clay County before moving to Canton in 1942. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Truman Ison in 1964; her second husband, Lenton Lankford in 1994, and two sisters, Nora Jane S. Stamey and Katie S. Myers. She had lived at 3 Ison Street in Canton for 57 years. She retired from American Enka Company after 30 years of service. She loved her family, flowers, Jesus and her church, Calvary Baptist in Canton, where she was a member and there she served her Lord in many many ways. She is survived by two brothers, Arthur L. Stamey and wife, Eulah of Lake Junaluska and Eugene T. Stamey and wife, Mary-Lou of Candler; three grandchildren, Leisa Stamey of Candler, Philip Stamey of Clemmons, and Paul Lankford of Kent, England U.K.; a great-grandson, Daniel Stamey of Clemmons; two nieces, Betty S. Milner and husband, Dennis of Canton and Karen Pruett and husband, Matthew Pruett of Canton; three nephews, Charles L. Myers and wife, Yvonne of Pisgah Forest, Mike Milner and wife, Debbie of Clyde and Gary Milner and wife, Lark of Dixon, MO, and several great great nieces and nephews. A celebration of her life will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, January 20, 2006 at Calvary Baptist Church with the Reverend Dennis Ruff and Reverend Matthew Pruett officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:30 until 8:00 p.m. Thursday at Wells Funeral Home in Canton and from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. Friday prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at Garrett-Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Waynesville. Nephews will serve as pallbearers. She loved to garden in her flowers so flowers would be acceptable.
