Roscoe Messer

Clyde-Roscoe Mattie Messer, 81, of 57 Earl Bradley Road, passed away on Saturday, December 3, 2005 at his home. A native of Haywood County, he was the son of the late Robert and Pearl Greene Messer. He was also preceded in death by his wife, C.T. Rathbone Messer who died in 1999; a brother, Verno Messer; and three sisters, Cora Lee Kirkpatrick, Bobbie Arrington, and Anna Belle Rogers. He was a self-employed farmer who enjoyed the outdoors and loved to fish. He was a member of Panther Creek Baptist Church. He is survived by two daughters; Patty Darlene Davidson, and her husband, Harold, of Asheville and Pearlene Brown, and her husband, Neil, of Clyde; four sons, Danny "Mutt" Messer, and his wife, Belinda, and Wilford Messer and his wife, Norma, both from Clyde, Jeff Messer and his wife, Vickie, and Donald Messer and his wife, Gwen, both Waynesville; two sisters, Geraldine "Kate" Kirkpatrick of Spring Creek and Ruth Ritche of Aurora, IN; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 6, 2005 at the Panther Creek Baptist Church in Clyde with Reverend Jimmy Trantham and Reverend Billy Ferguson officiating. Burial will follow at Panther Creek Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Monday evening at Wells Funeral Home of Waynesville. Serving as pallbearers will be Pete, Shaun, Jason, Kirk, and Winford Messer, Tim Trantham, Earl Rogers, and Mike Sexton. Honorary pallbearer will be Johnny Russell. Memorials may be made to Haywood Regional Medical Center Hospice, 560 Leroy George Drive, Clyde, NC 28721.
