Waynesville, Roscoe Curtis Wells, born June 12, 1932 to William Newman Wells and Kitty Elnora Beggs in Collbran, Colorado. He passed away peacefully at home in Waynesville, North Carolina with his family around him on September 28, 2012. He continued to live in western Colorado, graduating from Mesa College in Grand Junction. He attended the University of Colorado in Boulder, majoring in chemical engineering. He served in the U.S. army during the Korean War. He finished his education with a degree in chemical engineering from South Dakota School of Mines in Rapid City. He went to work for General Electric at the Hanford Atomic Energy Project in eastern Washington state. He studied computer systems analysis and design. After ten years at Hanford, he moved to Louisiana to work for Kaiser Aluminum. There, he worked to develop computer systems for Kaiser. During that time, he did consulting work for aluminum companies in Europe, specifically, Sardinia, Italy. In 1978, he moved to Saudi Arabia to develop computer systems for Aramco. After 15 years, he returned to the U.S. where he enjoyed managing his own private business. He retired to Waynesville, North Carolina where he took great interest in the community and civic projects. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his two brothers, William and Harold, and his sister, Nancy Morrison. He is survived by two sisters, Myrtle Tompkins of Fruita, Colorado and Catherine Keswick of San Jose, California. He is also survived by his wife of 59 years, Patricia, and four sons, Robert Curtis and his wife Coleen Stice of Omaha Nebraska, William Russell and his wife Joni of Madisonville, Louisiana, Roarke Lynn and his wife Lynn of Houston, Texas, and Ronald Stuart of Raleigh, North Carolina, as well as his daughter Rebecca Wells and her husband Siamak Moghimi of Marietta, Georgia. He is also survived by 10 granddaughters, 1 grandson, and 3 great grandsons. There will be no funeral service at the request of the deceased. Friends of the family are welcome to offer condolences at the family home.
