Dr. Ross Hughes, 90, of Hendersonville, went to sleep in Jesus, awaiting the great Resurrection. Born in Oklahoma, he spent the first 15 years of his life in China, with his missionary parents, the late Alton and Emma Ortner Hughes. Ross graduated from Emory Dental School in 1948, worked at the Charles George VA Medical Center, Oteen and retired from James H. Quillan VA, Mountain Home, TN. He was a faithful, active member of Mills River Seventh-day Adventist Church.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his daughter, Juanita (Bo) Carwile of Midlothian, VA and grandson, Richard Seidel.

He is survived by his loving, committed wife of 68 years, Betty Howard Hughes; daughters, Sharryn (Barry) Mahorney of Morganton, NC and Lynda (David) Seidel of Waynesville, OH; son, Glen (Lynn) Hughes of Candler, NC; 5 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.

A Funeral Service will be held at 4:00 PM on Saturday, February 15th in the Chapel of Faith at Moore Funeral Home at Forest Lawn with Pastor Barry Mahorney officiating. The family will receive friends at 3PM until the service. Entombment will follow the service at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Candler.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Mills River Seventh-day Adventist Church, 2142 Jeffress Rd, Mills River, NC 28759.
