Rowena Christensen

Waynesville, Rowena Elizabeth Roberts Christensen, age 95 passed away Friday, October 18, 2013 at her residence. Rowena was a native of Minnesota and had lived in Waynesville for the past 12 years. She was the daughter of the late William and Mabel Sheperd Roberts and was also preceded in death by her husband of 73 years, Willard "Bill" Christensen. She was a member of Shady Grove United Methodist Church. Rowena was loved by everyone who knew her and by her beloved, faithful puppy, "Pippa Marie." She was a very special woman who was devoted to her husband, her family and to her faith. She enjoyed cooking, sewing and making all her quilts by hand. She was a giving, gracious and humble servant of God. She is survived by daughter, Susan Christensen; Kim Butler and her sons, Donald and Dennis Butler and Rhiannon Kirby; niece, Eva Addison and her husband, Duane and her sons, Stephen, Andrew and Paul Erickson; and Kathleen Reister and her daughter, Arianne. Memorial services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 23, 2013 in the Waynesville Chapel of Wells Funeral Home. Reverend Thomas Tout will officiate.
