Maggie Valley – Roxie Sharlene Franklin Lance, age 44, of Forest Drive, passed away on Friday, September 19, 2014 at Haywood Regional Medical Center. Born in Fort Knox, Kentucky, she lived for many years in Tyler, Texas until meeting the love of her life and moving to Maggie Valley. She was the daughter of the late John Boyd Franklin and was also preceded in death by her baby sister, Joy Bernice Rowan. For 15 years, Roxie was employed by Champion EMS as an EMT. Roxie was known for being very compassionate, kind and was full of love. Her passion in life was her family and she will be remembered forever as an amazing wife, wonderful mother and grandmother. Nothing gave her more joy in life, than sitting in the stands with Brandon, cheering their sons' baseball teams. In addition to her mother, Kathryn Owens, of Tyler, Texas; she is survived by her husband of three years, Brandon Lance; two daughters, Heather Brooke Landrum and Kayla Brooke Lance; two sons, Chace Ross-Lance and Kamden Michael Lance, all of Maggie Valley; a brother, John Franklin, and his wife, Beth, of Tyler, Texas; two grandchildren, Kilah Sharlene and Kailyne Zaide Landrum; her in-laws, Brenda and Richard "Pops" Holden and Jack and Jan Lance, all of Brevard; and numerous nieces and nephews. A celebration of life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, September 22, 2014 in the Waynesville Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with tributes from John Franklin and Jurrell Hand. The family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. prior at the funeral home.
