Waynesville, Roy Lee Dills, Sr., age 82, of Children Street, passed away on Wednesday, January 3, 2018 at his residence.

A lifelong resident of Haywood County, he was the son of the late Hubert and Laura Gibson Dills and was also preceded in death by his wife, Gladys Dills, who died in 2012 and a son, Randell Dills. Roy was a craftsman, carpenter, and a jack-of-all trades. He was a devoted follower of Christ and was a wonderful father. His legacy will be the countless homes he has served as a carpenter for the past 50 years as well as his beloved family.

Roy is survived by two daughters, Jackie I. Dills and Tommy Mooney of Clyde and Janet "Tootie" Dills of Waynesville; a son, Roy "Pooch" Dills of Canton; two sisters, Flora Jean Jordan and Linda Hightower, both of Waynesville; four brothers, Troy, Charles, and David Dills and Larry Hightower of Waynesville; 8 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 7, 2018 in the Waynesville Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Dennis Queen and Reverend Kevin Brooks officiating. Burial will follow at Green Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:30 until 3:00 p.m. prior to services at the funeral home.
