Roy Henderson, Sr.

Roy Lee Henderson, Sr., age 69, of 29 Star Ridge Road, was called home to be with the Lord on Friday, March 16, 2007, at his residence surrounded by his loved ones. He was a native of Haywood County and was the son of the late Robert G. and Mollie King Henderson. He was also preceded in death by three brothers, Carroll, Calvin and Buddy Joe Henderson. Roy retired from Canton Hardwood in 1991, with 25 years of service. He loved western movies, especially those staring John Wayne, and he also loved music by Boots Randolph. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Johnnie Wilkie Henderson; a daughter, Angela Louise Henderson of Canton; two sons, Jeffrey L. Henderson and his wife, Carrie Ann, of Waynesville, and Roy Lee Henderson, Jr. and his wife, Kelly, of Clyde; three sisters, Mary Blaylock and Linda Sue Mason, both of Canton, and Glenda Gravatt of Clyde; a brother, James Edward Henderson of Canton; a special mother-in-law, Catherine Wyatt of Asheville; and nine grandchildren, Justin and Kristina Israel, Jonathan, Josh, Amber, Jacob, Alex, Mollie and Ethan Henderson. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, March 19, 2007, at the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend Virgil Holloway officiating. Burial will follow at Crawford Ray Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. Sunday, March 18, 2007, at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Jay Blaylock, Michael Blaylock, Justin Israel, Jacob Henderson, Dallas "Jr." Hatherlee, and Miles "Moss" Gibson. Honorary Pallbearers will be James "Cub" and Gary "Preacher" Henderson.
