Roy Massie

Canton-Roy William Massie, age 97, of Massie Lane died Monday, January 3, 2005 at his residence. A native of Haywood County, he was the son of the late John Wesley and Dovie Trull Massie. He was the husband of the late Vera Revis Massie who died December 28, 2003. Mr. Massie was also preceded in death by one grandson, Ricky Massie, 2 brothers and 6 sisters. He retired from Champion International with 46 years of service and loved fishing, hunting and spending time with his grandchildren. He is survived by his daughter, Sue Surrett and her husband Bob of Canton, three sons and their wives, Lawrence and Margaret Massie, Wayne and Barbara Massie, all of Canton and Gilbert and Linda Massie of Snellville, GA, one sister Maude Sheffield of Canton, 6 grandchildren, one step-grandchild, 2 great-grandchildren and 2 step-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon Wednesday, January 5, 2005 at the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Homes & Cremation Services. Reverend Barry Clark and Reverend Bob Willis will officiate. Burial will follow at Bethel Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:30 a.m. until 11:45 a.m. at the funeral home prior to the service.
