Roy Medford

Waynesville, Roy Gene Medford, 81, passed away on Sunday, January 1, 2023 at Haywood Regional Medical Center.

A native of Haywood County, he was a son of the late Larry and Wilma Massie Medford.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded on death by his wife, Barbara Stiles Medford, who died in 2016; two daughters, Brenda Lee Medford and Connie Medford; two sisters; two brothers; and a great-granddaughter, Chloe.  Roy enjoyed camping and fishing on his Fontana Boat house, playing golf, and fishing with his friend at Lake Junaluska and streams around Haywood County.

Roy is survived by his daughter, Heather Nicole Medford, of Waynesville; son Dewayne Medford, and his wife, Cindy, of Waynesville; three grandchildren, Tyler Medford (Lacey), Breona Medford and Justin Jenkins; one great-granddaughter, Brook; and his best friend, Junior Davis.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, January 6, 2023 in the Waynesville chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Randy Bolden officiating.  Burial will follow at Red Bank Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 11:30 until 1:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.

The care of Mr. Medford has been entrusted to Wells Funeral Home of Waynesville.
