Roy Moody

Faithful Servant

Waynesville, Roy Chambers Moody, age 80, passed away on Saturday, September 9, 2017 at his residence.

A native of Haywood County, he was the son of the late Ned and Nell Chambers Moody. Roy was a 1955 graduate of Waynesville Township High School. He served in the US Army and was a member of the NC National Guard prior to and following his active military service. An employee of Champion Paper for 40 years, he retired in 1999 and enjoyed watching NASCAR, John Deere tractors, and hiking. He has been an active member of Hazelwood Baptist Church since 1948.

Roy is survived by his wife of 56 years, Gail Penland Moody; two sons, Curtis Roy Moody of Waynesville and Cale DeWayne Moody of Raleigh; and one granddaughter, Madison Nell Moody.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, September14, 2017 at Hazelwood Baptist Church with Reverend Tim Lolley and Reverend Charles Dean officiating. Burial will follow at Garrett Hillcrest Memorial Park with military honors. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 2:00 p.m. prior to services at the church.
