Roy Pitts

Canton, Roy Edward Pitts, age 77, of 394 Mill Dam Lane, passed away on Saturday, Febuary 1, 2014 at his home. A native and lifelong resident of Haywood County, he was the son of the late William Dacus and Marie Singleton Pitts and also preceded in death by two brothers, Junior and Ben Pitts. He was retired from BASF and loved the outdoors. He was an avid fisherman and hunter and also enjoyed dancing. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Jo Ann Scott Pitts; one daughter, Revonda Reece, of Canton; one son, David Pitts and his wife, Michelle, also of Canton; two sisters, Betty Robinson of Canton and Mildred Summer of Joanna, South Carolina; one brother, Bruce Pitts, of Canton; three beloved grandchildren, Nichole and Coty Reece and Heather McCulloch; and his special white Maltese companion, "Willie." Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 4, 2014 in the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Steve Frazier and Denton Ashe officiating. Burial will be at in Bethel Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday, February 3, 2014 from 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. at the funeral home. A special thank you is extended to Dr. Marjorie Levreau and Denton Ashe.
