Roy Reed

Waynesville-Roy Lewis Reed, age 68, passed away on Thursday, November 09, 2006 at Haywood Regional Medical Center. He was a native of the Beta Community of Jackson County but had resided in Haywood County for the past 52 years and was the son of the late Roy Harris and Marjorie Henson Reed. Mr. Reed was a member of First Baptist Church of Waynesville. He was a 20-year resident of Silver Bluff Nursing Home where he became a special part of their community. Lewis also had a special interest in trains. He is survived by a cousin, Betty Jo Trantham, and her husband, Louis of Asheville; and several other cousins. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, November 12, 2006 in the chapel of First Baptist Church of Waynesville with Reverend Dr. Robert Prince officiating. Burial will follow in Old Field Cemetery in Sylva. The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 2:30 p.m. prior to services at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church of Waynesville "Find Us Faithful Campaign."
