Roy Smith

Canton- Roy Leon Smith - age 74 of Vista View Drive died Monday, January 1, 2007 at Canton Christian Convalescent Center. He was a native of Lumpkin, GA but had resided in Haywood County for a number of years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Perry and Fannie Wiggington Smith; one daughter, Linda Smith Moore; two brothers, Thurman and Grady Smith and two sisters, Verby Moore and Geneva Smith Clark. Roy loved to fish the lakes of Western, NC, enjoyed a good game of horseshoes and was of the Baptist faith. He was a kind and compassionate man and will be greatly missed by all. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Lois Worley Smith; one son, Roger Dale and Susan Smith, of Gainesville, GA; one sister-in-law, Lorene Edwards and her husband, Charles; one brother - in-law, Lane Worley and his wife, Geneva, all of Canton; four grandchildren, Charlene Reid, Daffney, Steven, and Tiffney Smith and eight great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, January 4, 2007 in the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Keith Clark, Reverend Gene Worley and Reverend Donnie Henson officiating. Burial will follow at Bon-A-Venture Cemetery on Newfound Road. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday evening at the funeral home. At other times, the family will be at the residence.
