Ruby Gibson

"1924 – 2013" Canton – Ruby Lee Cook Gibson, age 89, passed away on Tuesday, October 15, 2013 at The Homestead. A native and lifelong resident of Haywood County, she was a daughter of the late Perry and Elsie Henson Cook. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Marie Steppleton and a brother, Earl Cook. She was a member of Maple Grove Baptist Church where she was a very active and dedicated member. Ruby was a special and dear lady to all who knew her. She was devoted to her Lord and served him daily in all she did. Ruby was an excellent cook and will be missed deeply by each member of her family and friends. She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Hillery Gibson; two sons, Pastor Ricky Gibson and his wife Marlene, and Terry "Bird" Gibson and his wife, Diana all of Canton; two sisters, Edith Cook and her husband, Ray, and Martha Mease and her husband, Junior, all of Canton; one brother, Guy Cook and his wife, Geraldine, of Canton; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Zannie Cook. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, October 18, 2013 at Maple Grove Baptist Church with the Reverend Tommy Carlisle, Reverend R. H. "Bud" Lance, and Reverend Alan Blanton officiating. Burial will follow at Center Pigeon Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 3:00 p.m. prior to the service.
