Ruby Miller

Ruby Gertrude Warren Miller, age 91, went to be with the Lord, on Sunday, June 20, 2010. Ruby was a lifelong resident of Haywood County and the daughter of the late Onnie Warren. She was raised by her maternal grandparents; Thomas Harley and Mattie Ann Joyce Warren. She retired from the Haywood County School System, having worked in the cafeteria during the school years of her only child, the late Bruce H. Miller. She also worked in the cafeteria of the Lambuth Inn and the Terrace Hotel at Lake Junaluska for many years. After the death of her husband, W.C. (Bud) Miller in 1988, she volunteered as a foster grandparent in the Haywood County School System. For over 40 years, she and her husband would travel to Charleston, S.C. to spend the holidays with her son and his family. Being with her family and friends is what she enjoyed most. Her family is very grateful for the love and kindness shown by the staff, nurses, and doctors of Autumn Care of Waynesville. The family would also like to thank her dear friend, Linda Campbell, for the friendship and love she shared with Ruby. Ruby and Bud were long time members of the Calvary Baptist Church of Canton. She leaves behind her beloved daughter-in-law, Mary (Mickey) Miller, of North Charleston, S.C.; grandchildren: Debbie Miller of Canton; Cindy Miller Berezny, and Ronald (Bubba) Miller of North Charleston, S.C., and Bobby Miller and wife, Gail, of Givhans, S.C. She also leaves behind many great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, June 26, 2010 in the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend Darrell Webb officiating. Burial will follow at Morning Star Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:00 noon until 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
