Ruby Lillian Reeves Ransom, age 75, passed away on Monday, May 6, 2013 at MedWest Haywood. She was born and raised in Jasper County, Texas and was the daughter of the late Ruben and Ettie Mae Thornton Reeves. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Lyle E. Ransom, who died in 1993 and six brothers and sisters. She was dedicated to her Christian walk and was of the Baptist faith. Ruby was active in the ladies auxiliary of the VFW and was very proud of her husband's military career and service to our country. She will be remembered for her caring and selfless nature and having an excellent green thumb. She truly enjoyed gardening and could grow almost anything. Above all, she loved and adored her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is survived by two daughters, Teresa K. Young and her husband, Dennis, of Forsyth, Georgia and Eva Mae Peacock and her husband, Jerry, of Des Moines, Iowa; three sons, Lorenzo E. Speck of Monroe, Louisiana, Melvin Ray Speck, II and his wife, Vicki, of Quinlan, Texas, and Larry Speck and his wife, Sonya, of Clyde; a sister, Betty Owen of Texas; two brothers, Merle Reeves and Frank Reeves and his wife, Clara Mae, all of Texas; 18 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
