Ruby Pressley

Ruby Rogers Pressley, age 91, of the Burnette Cove Community and for the last 3 ½ years a resident of Pisgah Manor Nursing Home in Candler went home to be with her Lord Jesus on Tuesday, October 31, 2006. She was a native and lifelong resident of Haywood County born April 6, 1915, to the late George Whorten and Anner Kuykendall Rogers. She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Joseph Earnest "Joe" Pressley, who died on December 2, 1992; a son, Billy Joe Pressley, who died in 1980; a daughter, Gwynneth D. Pressley Edwards, who passed away in 2004; two sisters, Glynna Carter and Faye Griffin; two grandchildren, Terry Wayne Pressley and Tracy Lynn Pressley; a great-grandson, Tyler Parker Pressley; her step mother, Balsia Williams Rogers; two half brothers, Ward and Arvell Rogers; five step-brothers, Alvoid, Cecil, Rex, Grady, and T. L. Revis; and a step sister, Mary Jane Revis Williams. This blessed saint of God enriched the lives of her family and everyone who knew her, especially the many people she led to the Lord. She was a faithful Christian for many years, a member of Mountain View Church of God of Canton, and of the Church of God faith for 51 years. She was a loving mother and grandmother. She is survived by a daughter, Juanita Kilby and her husband, Wayne, of Canton; four sons, George Carroll Pressley and his wife, Patty, of Irving, TX, Wade Pressley and his wife, Nancy, of Canton, Reverend Ted Pressley and his wife, Cindy, of Ocala, FL and Reverend Ned Pressley and his wife, Alice, of Whittier; a sister, Lillian R. Howard of Canton; two half brothers, Nolan Rogers of Tyler, TX and Norman Rogers of CA; 20 grandchildren; 45 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild as well as many nieces, nephews, family, and friends. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, November 3, 2006, at Mountain View Church of God with the Reverend Herman Toney, Reverend Tim Pressley, Reverend Mark Edwards, and Reverend Marty Pressley officiating. Burial will follow at New Cruso Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Thursday at Wells Funeral Home of Canton. The family wishes to express special appreciation to Dr. Jane Brummer and the staff of Pisgah Manor Nursing Home.
