Ruby Stamey

Canton- Ruby Mae Stamey- age 79, died Sunday, December 19, 2004 at Canton Christian Convalescent Center. She was a native and lifelong resident of Haywood County and was the daughter of the late Walter Lindsey and Mamie Davis Bumgarner. She was the wife of the late Edward Stamey who died in March of 2003 and was also preceded in death by one brother Gilbert Bumgarner and one sister Katherine Gibson. She was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church. She is survived by two sons, David Stamey and his wife Louise and Robert Stamey, all of Canton, one brother Earl Bumgarner of Asheville, 3 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 22, 2004 at the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Homes & Cremation Services. Reverend Louise Stamey and Reverend Tommy Eugene Gibson will officiate. Burial will follow at Bon-A-Venture Cemetery on Newfound Road. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. At other times, the family will be at the residence of Ruth Yarborough, 103 Thompson Street, Canton, NC 28716.
