Ruby Stiles

Ruby Hamlet Stiles, age 87, died Saturday, August 16, 2008 at Silver Bluff Nursing Home. A daughter of the late Lee and Addie Cole Hamlet, she was a native and lifelong resident of Haywood County. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lester Ray Stiles, who died in 1978 and a sister, Lois Meadows. Ruby was the owner and operator of Stiles Mart gift store in Canton for 30 years and was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Canton. She is survived by one sister, Emily Smathers and her husband, Jack, of Canton; two nephews and one niece, Doug Maynard of Canton, Sandra Meadows Hull of Vaiden, MS, and Wade Meadows of Leicester. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 19, 2008 in the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Thorton Hawkins and Reverend Patricia Chaput officiating. Burial will follow at Bon-A-Venture Cemetery on Newfound Road. The family will receive friends from 9:30 until 11:00 a.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
