Ruby Stuart

"Loved By Everyone" Canton – Ruby Gertrude Wiggins Stuart, 96, passed away on Tuesday, August 9, 2016 at Stonecreek Health and Rehabilitation Center. A native of Swain County, she was a daughter of the late Columbus LaFayette and Laura Alice Weeks Wiggins. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Boyce McCracken Stuart, who died in 1967; two sons, Dale and George Stuart; a daughter, Marie Dotson. Gertrude was a dear lady who always placed others before herself. She was devoted to her family always placing their needs above her own. Her delicious meals were enjoyed by many and many times would find her preparing a meal for someone in need. Gertrude was a gracious host and her home and table were always open. Most of all, she loved her Lord and cherished her Christian values. Gertrude will be remembered for her sweet, and giving spirit and living for the Lord. She attended the Fruit of Labor Worship Center and the Mountain View Church of God. She is survived by four daughters, Alma Stuart Hord of Waynesville, Joyce Stuart Swan and husband, Bob, of Fletcher, Maxine Stuart Jarvis of Enka, and Lois Stuart Oxendine and husband, Robert, of Pembroke; daughter-in-law, Ruth Stuart; ten grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. Funeral services will be held at 12 noon on Friday, August 12, 2016 in the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend Herman Toney and Reverend Willie Warren officiating. Burial will follow at Bon-A-Venture Cemetery on Old Clyde Road. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon prior to the service. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 31 College Place, Suite D320, Asheville, NC 28801. The family would like to thank the staff of Stonecreek Health and Rehabilitation Center for their loving care.
