Ruby Trantham

February 1, 1927 — February 15, 2005

Clyde-Ruby Lee Blazer Trantham, age 78, died Tuesday, February 15, 2005 at Pisgah Manor Nursing Home. A native and lifelong resident of Haywood County, she was a daughter of the late Cleophus and Ruth Wilson Blazer. She was also preceded in death by an infant brother. She retired from Champion Credit Union in 1989 with nearly 30 years of service. She was a member of Woodland Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school for over 20 years and was also a choir member. Ruby enjoyed volunteering with Haywood Christian Ministries, working in her rose garden, cooking, reading and traveling with her husband. She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Carroll E. Trantham, one daughter Dawn T. Childers and her husband Tim of Taylorsville, NC, one son Terry D. Trantham and his wife Gail of Candler, one sister Judy Putnam of Canton, one brother Gerald Blazer of Florida, 2 grandchildren; Bryan and Kala Trantham and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 6:00 p.m. Thursday, February 17, 2005 at the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Homes & Cremation Services. Reverend Alan Davis and Reverend Claude Conard will officiate. Burial will be private. The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home and at other times the family will be at the residence. Flowers would be appreciated or memorials may be made to Woodland Baptist Church Library Fund, 1400 Old Clyde Road, Clyde, NC 28721.
