Rufus Curtis, Jr.

Waynesville-Bud Curtis, Jr., age 75, passed away Friday, February 1, 2008 at his residence. He was a native of Haywood County where he lived most of his life also having lived in Maryland then Asheville. He was the son of the late Rufus and Fannie Trull Curtis, Sr. He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Annie Jane Webb and Margaret Curtis, a brother, Robert Curtis and a son, Christopher Michael Curtis. Bud served in the U.S. Army and retired from the National Guard. He was a very hard worker and was always willing to help anyone. He is survived by three daughters, Judy Engelstad and her fiancé, Lloyd Lippert, of Maryland, Sharon Hastings and her husband, John, of Waynesville and Ann Curtis of Pennsylvania; a son, Jeff Curtis of Florida; six sisters, Frances Rhinehart, Edna Crawford, Mary McClure, Carolyn Curtis and Marie Edwards, all of Waynesville and Amelia Muelinax of Wilmington; a brother, Eugene Curtis, of Maryland; five grandchildren, Michael Shields, Erica Engelstad, Kyle Hastings , Valerie and Matthew Curtis and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 05, 2008 in the chapel of Wells Funeral Home in Waynesville with Reverend Steve Rhinehart and Reverend Kenneth Rhinehart officiating. Burial will follow at Green Hill Cemetery with military honors conducted by a detachment from Ft. Bragg Army Base. The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service at the funeral home.
