Rufus Reeves, Jr.

February 4, 1945 — April 2, 2012

Waynesville, Rufus A. Reeves, Jr., age 67, passed away on Monday, April 2, 2012 at The Oaks of Brevard. A native and lifelong resident of Haywood County, he was the son of the late Rufus Allen Reeves, Sr. and Hester Howard Reeves and was also preceded in death by his wife, Sharon Reeves, who died in 2008. He was a US Army veteran of the Vietnam Era and was a Purple Heart recipient Rufus was retired from Champion Papers and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and "fast" cars. He was a member of Long's Chapel United Methodist Church. He is survived by two sisters, Johnnie Snyder and her husband, Temple, of Brevard and Lib Walker and her husband, Joe, of the Crabtree community; a special friend, Debbie Moody Andersen, of Waynesville; as well as several nieces and nephews. A private family graveside service will be held on June 2, 2012 at Maple Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery.
