Ruth Bates

Ruth M. Bates, 88, of Weaverville, passed away on Thursday, February 23, 2012. A native of Haywood County, she was a daughter of the late John and Carlos Carver Morris. Ruth had been a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Skyland and volunteered at the Council on Aging for many years. She owned and operated her own hair salon, and enjoyed running through the woods when she was younger. Her loves were her family and animals, especially the Humane Society.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Eugene Bates.
She is survived by her children Mandi J. DeMaaijer, and husband Erik, Don Tinsely, and wife Barbara and Doug Tinsely, and wife June; brother, Jack Morris; 7 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
A Funeral Service will be held in the Chapel of Faith at 2:00PM on Monday, February 27th with interment to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Candler. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service at the Chapel of Faith.
In lieu of flowers, Ruth wanted everyone to spend quality time with their families.
